Kid Speak Group Programs

Our Social Skills Group aims to support neurodivergent children aged 8-12 years old to achieve their social thinking, independence and communication goals in a supportive and engaging environment. Our experienced speech pathologist uses neurodiversity affirming evidence-based practice to help build confidence, develop practical communication skills and form meaningful connections with others in a natural, social setting. Activities such as sport/team games, cooking, challenges and outings are designed to incorporate independent thinking, team building, problem solving and fun!

Girl’s Group is our fun and empowering school holiday program that aims to connect neurodivergent girls in a safe, encouraging environment where they can celebrate their individual strengths and specific interests. Our Girl’s Group supports your daughter to be their full unique self and reach their true potential in an affirming space without the pressure to conform to the neurotypical social demands of everyday life. The girls are guided through various engaging activities designed to explore the social challenges they face such as perspective taking, conversation skills, friendships and identity. They will have opportunities to enjoy creative crafts, exciting games, cooking tasks and meaningful conversations.

Our literacy groups provide students with the opportunity to review and practice phonics, spelling and reading skills, alongside other students of a similar age and skill level. Groups run for 45min to 60min, with 3 to 4 students, depending on age. We incorporate word-level spelling and reading into fun games and activities, practice sentence-level reading using decodable readers, and focus on applying systematic sounding-out strategies and spelling rules rather than guessing or giving up. Home practice materials are also provided.

Our literacy groups build skill, fluency and especially confidence for students needing extra support.

Kid Speak’s group programs, including our Social Skills Group, Girls Group school holiday program and Literacy Groups, run across our three Perth clinics. Group availability varies by term and location, so we recommend contacting our admin team to find out which programs are running at the clinic most convenient for your family.

Shenton Park (2/155 Onslow Road) – group programs for children from Subiaco, Nedlands, Claremont, Floreat, Wembley, City Beach, Jolimont, Leederville and surrounding western suburbs.

Success (8/640 Beeliar Drive) – group programs for children from Cockburn, Bibra Lake, Jandakot, Leeming, Atwell, Aubin Grove, Hammond Park, Beeliar, Yangebup and surrounding southern suburbs.

Baldivis (17 Settlers Avenue) – group programs for children from Baldivis, Rockingham, Warnbro, Safety Bay, Port Kennedy, Kwinana, Wellard, Secret Harbour and surrounding south-eastern suburbs.
