Thumb sucking can seem harmless, as many kids grow out of it over time. However, when this is not the case, studies show that this habit can negatively impact your child’s dentition and speech production.Speech therapy which targets thumb sucking and other oral habits is based on positive behavior therapy and involves shaping a new behaviour through the use of reinforcement and structured periods of practice. The primary aim of this type of therapy is to reduce old habits by establishing oral awareness.

- [Jarrad Lethbridge](https://www.kidspeakpsp.com.au/team_members/jarrad-lethbridge/): Jarrad was first introduced to Kid Speak when his son Leo was having some difficulty with speech sounds. From the moment Leo started, he was welcomed and made to feel like a rock star by the Kid Speak team at Shenton Park! When the opportunity came up to be more involved with the business it was an opportunity to good to pass up. Jarrad took over the role of managing director in October 2025 and is thrilled to get to work with such a committed, caring team.
